What are some of the brands I hear about in Orthodontics? What is the difference between them?

Just like you have options when you go to buying running shoes, you have Nike, Adidas, etc. Orthodontist also have options when it comes to buying braces for their patients. The choice they make is usually based on what they have used during their training in orthodontic school or what they feel comfortable with and sometimes it is based on the cost of the product. Each brand has its own features and benefits. Here are some common types and brands of braces:
  1. Traditional Braces: These are the most recognizable type of braces, consisting of metal brackets and wires. Brands include:
    • Damon Braces: Known for using a slide mechanism rather than elastics to connect the wires, which can result in fewer adjustments and potentially faster treatment times. Damon braces are what we use at Impressions Orthodonticts. There main features are arch development and giving you that big smile at the end of treatment.  They are also considered the fastest braces and are the most expensive braces on the market. $50 per bracket vs $2.50 per bracket.
    • 3M™ Clarity™ Advanced Braces: These braces use translucent ceramic brackets that blend with the natural tooth color, offering a more aesthetic option compared to traditional metal braces.
    • In-Ovation® C Braces: These braces use a self-ligating design that reduces friction and allows for more efficient tooth movement.
    • Empower® Clear Braces: Known for their strong ceramic material and discreet appearance, providing effective treatment with minimal visibility.

  2. Clear Aligner Systems: These are a series of clear, removable trays (aligners) that gradually move teeth into alignment. Brands include:
    • Invisalign®: One of the most well-known clear aligner systems, offering customized treatment plans and a virtually invisible way to straighten teeth.
    • ClearCorrect™: Another popular clear aligner brand that provides options for both minor and comprehensive orthodontic corrections.
    • Spark Aligners: This is what we use currently at Impressions Orthodontics and you can read the page that talks about why we love it so much. https://www.impressionsorthodontics.com/spark
